Our sustainability pledge
Together we can create a healthy environment where our community and the world can flourish.
Questex is committed to creating sustainable, healthy spaces that make a positive impact on the communities we touch. We have joined the Net Zero Carbon Event initiative alongside our vendor partners and colleagues in the commitment to be Net Zero by 2050. To support this goal we have joined the ISLA membership association focused on event sustainability and we will implement their TRACE tool to measure and reduce carbon emissions associated with this year's event.
Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso
The Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso is committed to reducing its environmental footprint while supporting local communities and upholding strong corporate governance - a commitment the hotel has been refining well into its seventh decade of operation. Key sustainability practices include:
- Waste Management: Materials including cartons, paper, glass, and plastics are separately sorted, with a dedicated bio-recycling partnership with the Athens municipality.
- Food Donations: Surplus meals are donated to NGOs and independent causes to minimise food waste and support those in need.
- Furniture & Linen Donations: Rather than discarding replaced items, the hotel donates old furniture and linens to those who need them.
- Water & Energy Management: Clean energy use, infrastructure upgrades, and electric car charging stations form part of the hotel's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and protect natural resources.
- Community Contributions: The hotel supports local communities through sponsorships, financial donations, and charitable partnerships.
- Complimentary Stays: In partnership with specific NGOs, the hotel provides complimentary stays for people in need.
These efforts are recognised through certifications including the Green Stay sustainability transparency programme, a bio-waste composting partnership with the Municipality of Athens, and in 2022 becoming part of the first hotel chain in Greece to sign UNESCO's Sustainable Travel Pledge.
